Johnson County has recently announced a new program called Solarize Johnson County, an opportunity for residents to learn more about solar energy and potentially invest in it.
The program builds on the success of Solarize Cedar Rapids and Linn County, where more than 500 individuals attended free solar education sessions and nearly 100 property owners added solar to their properties in 2017.
Johnson County, Johnson County Public Health, Johnson County Conservation, and six municipalities, including Solon, are teaming up with a Wisconsin-based nonprofit organization to launch a similar solar program and will host free, educational events called Solar Power Hours. Over 20 Solar Power Hours are planned throughout the county and are a great opportunity to ask questions and become informed.
The first Solon Solar Power Hour will be held at the Solon Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 24th. A second Solon Power Hours is planned to also be held at the Solon Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11th.
The information shared at each Solar Power Hour is intended to be a general overview of the program and not specific to your city or region of the county, so please feel free to attend any of the 20 plus Solar Power Hours being offered to learn about the program.
