Steve has been serving the City of Solon on the City Council since 2006. As Mayor Pro tem, Steve was appointed by council as Mayor of Solon in May 2014, then elected to fill vacancy of mayor in November 2014 and re-elected in November 2015  and again in November 2019 to serve a 4-year term as Mayor.  In November 2019, Steve was re-elected to a new 4-year term that will expire in 2023.

A life long Solon resident, Steve has been instrumental in the Main Street and Mushroom Park renovations and is a retired member of the Solon Fire Department serving for 30 years.
