[ARCHIVED] Inclement Weather policy

Games, practices, activities, and/or classes may be cancelled due to unsafe field conditions, hazardous weather conditions, or coach’s/instructor’s unavailability. If there is a cancellation, a) parents of the youth participating or adults registered for the class will receive an e-mail, b) an announcement will be on the weather line, and c) postings will be made on the Solon Parks and Rec website and Facebook pages. If no e-mail is sent, no current announcement is on the weather line, and no posting on the web is made, assume the event is still on as scheduled.

Coaches, parents, adults, etc. can call the Solon Parks and Recreation Weather Line at 319-624-0400 to obtain the status of scheduled games, practice fields, activities, and classes. The recorded message will be updated by 3 pm for youth events and at least 2 hours in advance of adult classes. In the event of changing weather conditions, the message will be updated later in the day. If weather continues to deteriorate after 4pm, call the weather line before you leave for an event.

If Solon Community Schools cancels their evening activities due to inclement weather, all youth practices, games, etc., as well as adult classes in school facilities, will be cancelled for that day. The status of adult classes in non-school facilities will depend on the discretion of the instructor and the director.

Fields are closed based on the recommendation of the Recreation Coordinator or Solon Public Works Department field maintenance staff.
